The Sound Design Diaries is an exploration of the creative possibilities and techniques available to composers and sound designers that want to approach music composition starting with sound as raw material or that are looking at adding unique sonic elements to their work. It is also, more simply, a place for me to share thoughts and discoveries on music and sound design.

A geophone is a device that converts ground vibrations into electrical signals, and it is typically used to measure seismic activity. I recorded some great sounds with itand made a (free) virtual instrument you can grab!
Any form of ear training starts with improving our ability to listen, so today I would love to propose an exercise that you can do every day.
Music needs to be thought first. But can we think sound?
